Kiss And Tell

The April 22 lip lock between Lena and Bianca (Eden Rigel) daytime's first romantic same-sex smooch - made national headlines. But the attention bewildered Olga Sosnovska.

"It was such a little kiss!" she marvels. "On the day of the taping, there was lots of media there, people had left the set and it was very quite. I certainly felt the tension, but at the end of the day, it was nothing. It's not as though I had to kiss someone ugly, smelly and horrible, which I have had to do in my career. I'm kissing this gorgeous girl, we're having a laugh... I just can't believe it has raised the kind of attention that it has. We were on CNN! And the bizarre thing is, CNN ran a disclaimer: ‘You may want to change the channel because of controversial material.' And then, they didn't even show the kiss, just he build up to it.

"I am sorry," Sosnovska continues, "but there are things on this show that I find far [more] morally questionable. Women being raped on a regular basis [Ok, Ivanova is officially crushing on her now.]; children dying; people being deceitful, thieving, murdering, cheating. This is a pure love story; it's two grown women who obviously wants this to happen. And for me, if it was a choice between kissing Eden and kissing some of the people I've had to do this kind of thing with on other jobs, then I'd choose kissing Eden any day."

Edenroc: You seem relaxed about sexuality and other issues many Americans get in a frenzy about. I'm wondering to what extent your attitudes and "essence" come from your own nature, your family upbringing, your combined East/West background, whether you grew up in a rural area versus the city, and so on.

Olga Sosnovska: ... You mentioned sexuality. I think, ultimately the way we view this subject depends on our upbringing. I guess I was brought up to believe that sex was fun and funny though definitely an adult pursuit. I still believe that! Human sexuality is so individual and complex that defining any rules about what is or is not acceptable seems at best naive and at worst cruel. The key is to find out what you like, find someone who likes to do it with you and...ENJOY! (6/20/03) Read the postings

"So, to the matter at hand: I am absolutely bowled over by and immeasurably grateful for the outpouring of encoragement [sic] that I - and the storyline - have been receiving lately." (Date unknown)
